Blog turns 1, dies from old age
I started this blog up 1 year ago today. What have I learned? A blog is a good way to vent. I've probably converted a few people into becoming achievement whores over the course of this year. For that, I am truly sorry. Anyone that left me a comment, sent me encouraging mail, or hate mail. Thank you. I will continue venting here for the foreseeable future. Anything blog related I should do? Maybe a new sexy look? Get new blood blogging on here? I'm open for suggestions.

More post even if it is just describing a game, you could review
ReplyDeleteSpArKz Arsenic
achievement based review or game related which would be more focused on technical aspects. I tend to rate my games by fun alone. Maybe how fun the achievements are to get would be a good option. thanks
ReplyDeleteI know someone will come in here and suggest me to stop the blogging. I know you don't really mean it. You need me to unleash your hate.
ReplyDeleteSince your blog is about getting up to a million gamerscore, then I could see reviews on the achievements themselves. Whether they are easy, tough, fun to get, long and boring, etc.
ReplyDeleteAlso, what kind of research do you do before picking up a new game to try to get achievements on. Is it just a matter of a new game comes out, you need to get it, or is there more to it than that.
get rid of all the ads!
ReplyDeleteit stops my frequently coming because theres so much junk.
I enjoy your honest comments on how *fun* each game is. That to me, is much more useful then a star rating or a screaming face (remember Gamepro's old system? Yeesh.)
ReplyDeleteThe running diary of the GSLs was also cool to read, letting us into the head of a real score whore. If you do a GSL again, you need to do that. Not an option. You have to.

ReplyDeleteMore post like "A day in the life"
ReplyDeleteAlso I agree with Patrick.
Ok, I'm just going to throw out every random idea I have, whether they are good or bad.
ReplyDeleteA weekly recap would be nice. It would allow "us" to see what you are playing/played. The recap should contain every game that you played in that week a little rating of how fun it was, and a rating of how easy the achievements are.
You could have more silly contests for XBLA arcade games. Like maybe once a month or something like that.
You need to sexy up the page a bit. Very boring with all grey. I don't know what, but something with some color.
Maybe take a picture of each game you have 100%(It might be difficult to do previous games). Reason for this is because it would be cool for when you reach 1,000,000 GS to see a picture section with all 100% games.
If I think of any more random ideas I'll post them. And keep up the great work!
Good ideas from Gunman imho. I wanted to suggest a weekly recap, too. You've done that before, so you know what to do. Best/worst/funniest/most original achievement etc.
ReplyDeleteKeep it up!
I don't think you should do a weekly blog, its too much of a routine. You should carry on taking every day as it comes. What makes your gamerscore blog different from everyone elses is the randomness and comedy. Many others focus too much on targets, goals etc and bog you down with completion% worries. Maybe do achievement reviews on games that you really enjoy, just not weekly..
ReplyDeleteIt maybe time to lose all the greyness though!
Keep it up.
All very good suggestions guys. Thank you very much. :)
ReplyDeleteI think it would be neat for you to do a contest with a reader. Like, you both buy a new game or an old one you've never played and race one-on-one to see who can max it out the fastest. Or have smoe posts by folks starting to climb the Achievement ladder and how their journey's go.
ReplyDeleteMore pictures :P I mean when ur playing ,of your setup etc
ReplyDelete@Mclinton92- there is only one ad now.
ReplyDeleteNo more gray. Still doesn't look sexy by any means but no more gray.
achievement hotline axed.It didn't really serve much of a purpose.
I had 1 more idea that just came to mind.
ReplyDeleteOnce or twice a month you have a "Game with Stallion83." The only way I see this working is if you have say what game you are going to play 1 week before the date and then people who have that game can post in the comments and you randomly select people in the comments section to play with you for that event. It could also be turned into a boosting session instead. Such as "Boost with Stallion83"
Let me know what you think.
You should definitely give a game an Achievement Rating. Who else would be better to do so?
ReplyDeleteYou are the biggest "Achievement Celebrity" (congrats?) and I love how you handle things. Keep posting the hate messages, they give me such a good laugh and your reaction in your blog is priceless! Besides a rating/review of achievements lets just see more frequent posts. Thanks for providing the laughs, good luck at 400k...then 1m!
All good ideas guys, seriously. Thanks.
