The top Xbox 360 games of 2010...so far

It's pretty much known that I play almost every game that comes out. The good, the bad, and the really disgusting. I will update through-out the year on the best games of 2010. This will only be games released within the calendar year of 2010 in the USA. I will break it down into categories I see fit once the list starts expanding. In my estimation, this will be the best year for the 360 gamer.

Best Games: (so far)

1. Mass Effect 2
2. Darksiders
3. Bayonetta
4. Army of Two: The 40th day
5. Dark Void

Not only is Mass Effect 2 the best single player experience on the Xbox 360, it is also one of the greatest games ever made. The best single player game I have played in my adult life. The game is remarkable and truly a masterpiece in every way imaginable. If you even remotely enjoyed the first, you will love ME2. Bioware is on the cusp of making video games into feature movies. If your friends are bugging you while playing it, you may say this to them," stop sending me messages, I'm watching my movie." It sucked me in like no other game has. I have been saying for years that DICE will make the greatest game known to man. I think Bioware will now do it and Mass Effect 3 could be THAT game. Until then, pray nightly that new DLC graces our beloved Cerberus network the following day.

Expectations: I held them in check. I knew this game was going to be good. I was thinking top 5 or 10 on the 360.

Meet or Beat Expectations: Beat. THE best single player game in years.

Estimation of how long you're looking at for the 1,000 points: 40-45 hours

Darksiders doesn't get the originality points. It's just fun, pure fun. It reminds me a lot of Zelda. Ultimately, that's what I loved about it. It brought me back to 1998. While not quite as good as Zelda by any stretch, it had me from the start. By the time it was over, I didn't want it to end.

Expectations: None

Meet or Beat Expectations: Beat. Came out of left field and sucked me in.

Estimation of how long you're looking at for the 1,000 points: 20 hours

I would say Bayonetta is a masterpiece of artistic quality and originality. I did not like the game at first, in fact, I hated it. It was cheesy and corny to the highest level. The music is elevator-ish. I said to myself, "the main characters legs are too long and she sucks." Yes, I was nitpicking the game to death. It was a few hours into the game when I realized I haven't seen video game art like this in a while. The pacing and the flow of the game kept me on my toes. Huge boss battles, over the top everything. Redunkulous! I must of said, " This game is Redunkulous!" 20 or more times. My girlfriend and cat wanted to disown me at that point.

Expectations: To be a decent game. I wasn't aware of the developer roots at the time.

Meet or Beat Expectations: Beat. It took some time but this game rocked my world.

Estimation of how long you're looking at for the 1,000 points: 20-25 hours

Army of Two: The 40th day. Let's deal with the good. Coop and stomping on fools heads. The extraction mode is pretty fun as well. Coop deathmatch CAN be fun, but the lag kills that. Saving the hostages is stupid, the moral choices are stupid. The story is...well, it didn't even have one! The lack of customizable guns in the multiplayer is mind boggling. A decent game for blowing crap up with a buddy. Nothing more, nothing less.

Expectations: As good as the first

Meet or Beat Expectations: Met. And just by the hair of its chinny chin chin.

Estimation of how long you're looking at for the 1,000 points: 20 hours

Dark Void is like a 2 dollar hooker. It gets the job done, only very sloppily. Not that I would know how a 2 dollar hooker gets down. I've just been told that's how it is. This game could have been great. Instead, it turned into a MEH game. There was nothing terribly wrong with it, but nothing good enough to write home about. Trust me on this, Dark Void will not stay at the bottom of this list. Average game, so don't expect too much and you may get some enjoyment out of it.

Expectations: Low

Meet or beat Expectations: Met. They were very low.

Estimation of how long you're looking at for the 1,000 points: 12 hours

I would say we are still on track for the greatest year for the 360.

Can anything top Mass Effect 2?

How would your list go so far?

TrueAchievements and Stallion sitting in a tree

K I S S I N G

Trueachievements came to me with the idea of having some of my blog posts from 1milliongamerscore.com go up on TA. More specifically, the opinion articles. It was an easy decision on my part since I really enjoy the site.

A few months before TA arrived on the scene I had a similar idea about a website but I completely lacked the website knowledge to make it happen. Luckily someone had the knowledge and made it into the best achievement tracking website on the net.

What this basically means is, you can read some of the mumblings of a guy dedicated to games and Xbox Live on a properly formatted website. If you have no idea what I'm all about, go to my blog. There is around 18 months worth of randomness to get you ready. If you don't care at all, that is fine too.

Enjoy Mass Effect 2, we all should be K I S S I N G that very soon.

The top xbox 360 games of 2010

It's pretty much known that I play almost every game that comes out. The good, the bad, and the really disgusting. I will update this on a regular basis. This will only be games released within the calendar year of 2010 in the USA. I will break it down into categories I see fit once the list starts expanding. In my estimation, this will be the best year for the 360 gamer.

Best Game:

1 Darksiders
2 Bayonetta

This might be one of the toughest choices for the entire year. While one brought gaming back to a pure form, the other smashes the artisitc barrier.

I would say Bayonetta is a masterpiece of artistic quality and originality. I did not like the game at first, in fact, I hated it. It was cheesy and corny to the highest level. The music is elevator-ish. The main characters legs are too long and she sucks. Yes, I was nitpicking the game to death. A few hours into the game, I realized I haven't seen video game art like this in a while. The pacing and the flow of the game kept me on my toes. Huge boss battles, over the top everything. Redunkulous! I must of said, " This game is Redunkulous!" 20 or more times. My girlfriend and cat wanted to disown me at that point.

Darksiders doesn't get the originality points. It's just fun, pure fun. It reminds me a lot of Zelda. Ultimately, that's what I loved about it. It brought me back to 1998. While not quit as good as Zelda by any stretch, it had me from the start and by the time it was over, I didn't want it to end.

If I were rating these two games based on the overall package, which includes; sound, graphics, and all that jibber jabber. Bayonetta would come out victorious. Based on the fun I had and the addiction level, Darksiders takes the cake, but only by a slim margin.

I'm judging the games based on how much fun I had with them. I will continually update this for every game I play the entire year. Including xbla games.

500,000 by May 31st?????

As I always do when I reach another 100k milestone, I think to myself, what is next? This time I got a twitter challenge from Rand al thor 19. I scoffed at it when I first read it. "I guess I'm partly responsible for you getting to 400k this year. I'll make this challenge to you public: 500k by May. Man up."

Not only did I scoff, I just didn't care. I just got to 400k and I was pretty worn down. Boy that feeling didn't last long. I thought about how I could approach this and maybe pull it off. I got into a party chat with Rand later that day and asked him, by May or by April? He said, May 30th. We didn't make any kind of wager but I believe we should. It would make it more interesting.

The questions is, can it be done? Short answer, NO.

Here is what would have to be done. 100,000 in 159 days. That's 5 months and a week. Almost 700 points per day for 5 months is doable, if I didn't already have 400,000 and rely mostly on new releases. There are only 5 more games coming out in the month of January. More importantly, there are only around 40 games being released between now and May 30th. Where could I get my points from? I could buy a ton of arcade games and make a desperate attempt. Let's say I buy 50 arcade games that take 5 hours or a little more. That's only 10,000 points! Let's say I score zero points during a day, that means the next day just to make that up I would have to score 1,400. The one way breaking it down makes it sound plausible, 5,000 points a week.

I started the goal on December 22nd but I really didn't go after it until last Sunday. I've exceeded pace during this week but I'm still behind the goal pace due to a slow start. It will be a miracle if I get it done. Heck, I'll be lucky if I even get back on pace. I've devised a fairly good plan that suits me well. I'll try to keep it up for the month of January. We will see what happens from there. In the meantime, send rand a few messages telling him to man up and make a good wager. The only way this can be done if something is on the line. Link never saved Zelda just for the hell of it.

Here is my goal progress so far thanks to trueachievements.

Yes it deserved to die and I hope it burns in hell

The Chromehounds servers are no more. The online play is dead. It seems Sega pulled the plug sometime early this morning. Don't be sad, this is GREAT news!

I started this game back in September or October because the word of server shut downs. I expected to get 600 or so points, then call it quits. Once I finish the single player stuff, I will be at 900. I can't complain about that. I can however complain about how much dick sucking it would have taken to reach 1000. Not only that, but I was magically blacklisted along with the people I started the game with. I was achievement cock-blocked.

Basically this game is a political mess. The squads that have the power love their control and you need their cooperation to get all the achievements. So, if you send these pricks a message without saying Please & Thank you, they disregard your message entirely. Today, they lost their power. The fall of Chromehounds. The fall of juggernaut. January 7th, 2010 will always be remember as the fall of Chromehounds.

Chromehounds, I hope it hurts when your burning in hell.

Please & Thank you

Oh, and Zakke Child Wylde, thanks for getting me blacklisted you achievement cock blocking whore. Enjoy your 980, you little prick. It looks like you can't freeze time and you were most definitely not saved by the bell. AC slater 4 life!

So much for sticking to the high road. That's usually my MO. Not today.
